With thousands and thousands of new torrents each day, it's impossible to be sure that the torrent you are downloading is safe. The people at VERTOR (VERified TORrents) are trying to change that for you, by downloading everything themselves and scanning to see if there are any infected or fake torrents. It's like a fake torrent checker app where torrents are checked by real people. The safe torrents are then uploaded to the site from where you can search and download them.
VERTOR is still relatively new, so there aren't as many torrents to search through as you may like. Nonetheless, it's still a great place to find torrents that aren't fake or full of spam.
The folks at VERTOR also provide lots of information about the torrent you're downloading to make sure you download what you wanted.
- If there is an archive in a torrent file, we decompress it and make a filelist. If there is an error in the process, we mark the file "protected" and do not not place it in the overall database.
- If there is a video file in a torrent, we make screenshots of it. If the video is protected by DRM, screenshots will be blank.
- If there is an audio file in a torrent, we cut out small pieces of it for users to make sure the file has prescribed qualities.
- If there is a text description in a torrent file, we save it so users can read it before downloading.
